Please read this post in a British accent. Certain things just sound better in a British accent:
Means lowering the biscuit into the tea and letting it soak in there and trying to calculate the exact moment before the biscuit dissolves, when you whip it up into your mouth and enjoy the blissful union of biscuits and tea, combined. It’s more relaxing than it sounds.
This is a quote made by Judi Dench in the relatively new film “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel”. I watched it last night, and the whole time I was jealous of anyone with an accent. You just don’t get to say things like the above quote in American English. Take a look at this little snippet of conversation from the movie:
Madge: You’re not worried about the danger of having sex at your age?
Norman: If she dies, she dies.
By all accounts, the quote is funny. But it is funnier when imagined (or watched) in a British accent–without one it would just come accross as churlish.
I mean just imagine this post with an accent and suddenly it seems a lot more interesting. Feel free to do this with the whole of my blog.
